DELIVERING GOOD IMPACT AWARD: HONORING THE ONE MILLION PAIRS OF SOCKS CAMPAIGN

Did you know that socks are the most requested and least donated item in homeless shelters? Without clean socks, people living in shelters or on the streets are more susceptible to skin infections, disease, chronic illness and extreme discomfort. Socks often act as socks, shoes and gloves for the homeless.

In 2016, Isaac Ash, Founder and President of United Legwear and Apparel Co., decided to address this issue head-on. At an American Apparel & Footwear Association Legwear Committee Meeting, Ash challenged industry colleagues to donate one million pairs of socks to help those in need through Delivering Good. This simple challenge has transformed into a national campaign, leading to over five million pairs of socks donated and distributed.

At this year’s Annual Gala on November 6, Delivering Good is proud to honor United Legwear & Apparel Co., Bombas, the American Apparel & Footwear Association and all of the generous donors that helped us reach this momentous goal. This year’s Delivering Good Impact Award is celebrating the One Million Pairs of Sock Campaign and all of the donors who made it possible.

We hope that other industries take note and inspiration from the sock industry and work to address a crisis within their own industries. From underwear and socks to t-shirts and home goods, there is so much need. To learn more about our Annual Gala and this year’s Impact Award, please visit: www.dggala.org
